Visit Chernihiv Oblast

The Chernihiv Oblast of Ukraine is located in the northern part of the country, near the border with Belarus. The region is known for its picturesque landscapes and rolling hills, which make it popular among tourists. In addition to its natural beauty, Chernihiv also has a unique cultural history and some interesting historical sites.

A must-see attraction in Chernihiv Oblast is the fortified city of Nizhyn, which was founded in 1025 by Kievan Rus princes and served as an important trade center for centuries. Its surviving architecture includes churches, monasteries and fortresses. Another notable site is the Saviour Transfiguration Monastery, one of Ukraine's oldest religious complexes with a richly decorated cathedral from 1630s.

Another interesting point about Chernihiv Oblast is that it was home to ancient people known as Trypillians who inhabited this land more than 5 thousand years ago! They built large settlements with earthen mounds covered by homes made from mud bricks - some mounds can still be found here today.
