Visit Kherson Oblast


Kherson Oblast is a region in southeastern Ukraine, located on the Black Sea. It is known for its long beaches and rich cultural heritage. Kherson has many historical monuments, churches and monasteries scattered throughout the countryside. The city of Kherson itself is home to an impressive botanical garden as well as several museums showcasing local art and culture.

The main tourist attractions in Kherson Oblast are Cape Khan-Tengri, a popular destination for whale-watching expeditions; and Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve, one of Ukraine's most beautiful nature preserves featuring numerous rare species of wildlife.

An interesting fact about this region is that it was once part of the ancient Tauric Chersonesus kingdom which existed from the 5th century BC until it became part of Russia in 1783 after being conquered by Catherine the Great.
