Visit Poltava Oblast


The Poltava Oblast region is a picturesque province located in central Ukraine. It's known for its rolling hills, rivers and forests as well as its many historical sites. Its capital city of Poltava, founded in the late 17th century, is full of rich Ukrainian culture and attractions such as the Church of Saints Peter & Paul (built in 1717) or the Monument to the Heroes of the Battle of Poltava (a historic battle from 1709).

The nearby city of Khorol is home to a 13th century castle complex which makes it an interesting stop for history buffs. Slightly further away there are other must-see attractions like the Pobuzhsky National Nature Park, offering breathtaking views and unique flora and fauna, or Kaniv Nature Reserve with numerous animal species living freely within it.

Poltava Oblast has some notable historical facts too; it was once part of the powerful Grand Duchy Of Lithuania during medieval times and later became a major cultural center where famous figures such as Taras Shevchenko lived. Additionally, this region was home to Ivan Mazepa who led one of Ukraine's largest armies against Charles XII at The Battle Of Poltava - an important event that shaped Ukrainian history forever.
