The emirate of Abu Dhabi is located in the United Arab Emirates, on the southeastern coast of the Persian Gulf. It is the largest and most populous emirate, encompassing 87% of UAE's total land area and boasting a population of 2.9 million people. Abu Dhabi offers an array of attractions, from beautiful beaches to intriguing historical monuments. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one such monument - a magnificent building with 82 domes and more than 1000 pillars - and it's one not to be missed! Other must-visit places include Yas Island with its plethora of water parks, shopping malls, golf courses and theme parks; or perhaps take a boat tour around Sir Bani Yas island - home to thousands of Arabian Oryx antelopes living in their natural habitat.

Abu Dhabi also has some interesting historical facts. One example is that GPS coordinates for Abu Dhabi are actually based on oil drills which were used in 1950 by British Petroleum engineers during oil exploration efforts in the region!
