Visit Navassa Island


Navassa Island is a small, uninhabited island located in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Haiti. It is part of the United States Minor Outlying Islands and is controlled by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. It has a total area of 2 square miles and is surrounded by coral reefs. Fauna on Navassa Island includes various species of seabirds, lizards, iguanas, giant land crabs and sea turtles.

Navassa Island offers visitors plenty to explore. The two most popular tourist attractions are Lulu Bay Beach with its turquoise waters and stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, as well as Majuba Hill which provides excellent panoramic vistas across this tropical paradise.

The history of Navassa Island dates back to 1845 when it was claimed for an American citizen named Benjamin Putnam although it had previously been occupied by pirates throughout much of history before being annexed by America during World War II. Thus making Navassa Island one truly unique destination in the Caribbean!
