Visit Wake Island

Wake Island is a small, tropical atoll located in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. It is one of the United States Minor Outlying Islands and a territory of the United States. Wake Island is comprised of three coral islands surrounded by a lagoon and fringing reefs, with the only habitable areas being two small harbours and an airfield on Wilkes Island. The island's pristine beaches, palm-lined shoreline and vibrant reef habitats make it an attractive destination for adventurous beachgoers and snorkelers alike.

For tourists wanting to experience life on Wake Island, there are some interesting attractions worth visiting including Wilkes Monument - a memorial to American soldiers who lost their lives in World War II - as well as Peale Island - home to an endangered species of sea turtle known as the Green Sea Turtle.

An interesting historical fact about Wake Island is that during World War II it was occupied by Japanese forces for several months between December 1941 and October 1943 before being recaptured by U.S forces in 1945.
