Park

Channel Islands National Park is an American national park that consists of five of the eight Channel Islands off the coast of the U.S. state of California, in the Pacific Ocean. Although the islands are close to the shore of densely populated Southern California, their isolation has left them relatively undeveloped. The park covers 249,561 acres of which 79,019 acres are owned by the federal government. The Nature Conservancy owns and manages 76% of Santa Cruz Island, the largest island in the park.

Plan your visit

Visiting Channel Islands National Park is a great way to experience the natural beauty of California’s coast. Here are some tips and tricks to make your trip memorable: 1. Plan ahead and arrange transportation in advance since there is no public transportation or road access to the park. 2. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and snacks for your day trips as services within the park are limited. 3. Pack layers for changing weather as temperatures can fluctuate throughout the day with fog rolling in from the coast in late afternoon hours. 4. Respect wildlife - do not feed or harass any animals you may encounter during your stay! 5. Don’t forget binoculars so that you can take advantage of its amazing bird watching opportunities! 6. Most importantly, enjoy all that Channel Islands National Park has to offer-from pristine beaches to rich marine life-you won’t regret it!
