Park ~ 2 hours

Lago Santa Margarita is located a long stone’s throw west of the intersection of Santa Margarita and Antonio Parkways, in the shadow of Mount Modjeska and Mount Santiago, Saddleback’s twin peaks.

The 1.1 mile loop around the lake offer a nice walk on a flat pavement. It is only 1 foot deep at the edge so that anyone who accidentally falls in will be able to stand up and wade out easily. The lake is surrounded by neighborhoods but also a charming little plaza with restaurants and coffee shops.

Plan your visit

  1. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
  2. Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen to prevent dehydration or sunburns.
  3. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy by the lake!
  4. Familiarize yourself with safety regulations before swimming in the lake or fishing on its shores.
  5. Respect wildlife and be mindful of park rules when participating in recreational activities such as hiking, biking, bird watching, etc..

Small hidden gem and great walk around the lake.
