Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a spectacularly beautiful spot located in the city of Montrose, Colorado. The canyon provides amazing views from its sheer walls that drop 2,000 feet below. It was formed over millions of years by the Gunnison River which carved out this steep and rocky gorge.
The park offers a wealth of activities such as hiking, biking, backpacking, camping and fishing. Visitors can explore some of the incredible trails along different sections of the canyon rim or venture down into it on their own adventure. Highlights include getting up close to Painted Wall -the highest cliff in Colorado- and bracing yourself against strong currents at Chasm View Overlook while observing rafts navigating through rapids below.
