Directions

To get to this “Turtle Town” Maui delight, just head south from Wailea along Wailea Alanui Drive. It will change names to Makena Alanui Drive after that. Make a right turn onto Honoiki Street and follow it to the end where you‘ll make a left turn onto Makena Road.

Plan your visit

  1. Bring plenty of sunblock - That Maui sun can be harsh, so make sure to bring a high SPF sunscreen and reapply regularly.
  2. Wear reef-safe footwear - To protect your feet from rocks and sharp coral, wear water shoes or sandals with straps when entering the ocean.
  3. Pack snacks & drinks - Picnics are allowed on Maluaka Beach, so don’t forget to bring a light lunch along with some water or your favorite beverage for hydration purposes.
  4. Respect the local culture & wildlife- Do not disturb any Hawaiian green sea turtles that may inhabit the beach as they are endangered species in Hawaii; also remember to follow all posted signs and respect privacy of locals in the area..
5 Be prepared! - Make sure that you have your phone charged for emergencies by carrying a battery charger, pack towels and beach chairs if needed, slippery shoes/sandals if walking on hot sand is an issue for you/your family members!
