This stunning urban oasis is a favorite among locals and tourists alike, offering a paved pathway that winds through the city, providing scenic views, wildlife observation opportunities, and access to various parks and Boise’s vibrant downtown area.

While visiting the Greenbelt, one must not miss the MK Nature Center, a hidden gem that offers an up-close view of Idaho’s wildlife through its underwater viewing windows. Plan your visit

  1. Plan for the Weather: Boise weather can be unpredictable, so it’s best to check the forecast before your visit. Summers can be hot, so bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat. Winters can be cold and snowy, so dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes.

  2. Explore the Full Length: The Greenbelt stretches for 25 miles along the Boise River, so there’s plenty to explore. You can walk, bike, or rollerblade along the paved path, and there are numerous parks and natural areas to enjoy along the way.

  3. Watch for Wildlife: The Greenbelt is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and a wide variety of birds. Keep your distance and do not feed the animals.

  4. Respect the Environment: The Greenbelt is a treasured natural area, so please respect it by staying on the path, not littering, and not disturbing the wildlife or plants.

  5. Visit Local Attractions: There are many attractions along the Greenbelt, including the Boise Art Museum, Zoo Boise, and the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial. Plan your route to include some of these stops.
