Nevada is a state in the western United States and is known as the "Silver State" because of its vast silver deposits. It is bordered by Oregon to the northwest, Idaho to the northeast, California to the west, Utah to the east and Arizona to the southeast. Nevada offers plenty of activities for tourists including skiing, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. The Hoover Dam and Lake Mead are popular destinations for visitors looking for outdoor recreation. Tourists can take a boat tour around Lake Mead or explore nearby Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area with its stunning red rock formations.

For history buffs, Virginia City has preserved much of its 19th-century buildings from when it was one of America's largest boomtowns. Ghost towns like Rhyolite can also be visited in Nevada offering a glimpse into what life was like during this period in American history. Interesting facts about Nevada include that it was once part of Mexico until 1848 when it became part of United States following Mexican-American War and that Las Vegas was originally founded as a railroad town in 1905 before becoming famous for its nightlife entertainment offerings.
