Tennessee is a state located in the southeastern United States. It's bordered by 8 states, including Kentucky and Virginia, and it covers an area of 42,143 square miles. Its capital is Nashville, which is home to several popular music venues as well as the historic Ryman Auditorium.

One of Tennessee's most popular tourist destinations is Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Located on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee, this park boasts stunning views of lush forests and rugged mountains that are perfect for hiking or camping trips. Another great spot to visit in Tennessee is Memphis; here you'll find plenty of cultural attractions such as Sun Studio (where Elvis Presley recorded his first album) and Beale Street (a vibrant music district).

One interesting historical fact about Tennessee is that it was the last state to secede from the Union during the Civil War. After several battles fought within their borders, it wasn't until June 8th in 1861 that Tennessee officially declared their secession from the Union.
