Trail ~ 3 hours

The Narrows is the narrowest section of Zion Canyon. This gorge, with walls a thousand feet tall and the river sometimes just twenty to thirty feet wide, is one of the most popular areas in Zion National Park. You can see The Narrows by hiking along the paved, wheelchair accessible Riverside Walk for one mile from the Temple of Sinawava. If you wish to see more, you will be walking in the Virgin River. This can involve wading upstream for just a few minutes or it can be an all day hike.

Plan your visit

Planning ahead when visiting The Narrows Trail in Springdale is key to having an enjoyable experience. Here are some top tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your visit: 1. Arrive early in the morning so that you can enjoy seeing the sun rise over Zion National Park as you hike through The Narrows. 2. Wear comfortable shoes with plenty of traction, and bring a walking stick for added stability while trekking through the narrow pathways. 3. Pack plenty of snacks, water, and other necessary items like sunscreen and insect repellent to protect yourself against any potential hazards on your journey along The Narrows Trail. 4. Make sure to have a map of the route handy just in case you need it during your hike or if there’s any confusion about which way to turn once off-trail . 5 Finally, make sure that someone at home knows where you’re going and when you expect to be back–it’s always better safe than sorry!
