Discover Vernal

Vernal is a city located in the northeast corner of Utah, United States. It's known for its abundant outdoor recreation opportunities and small-town charm. It sits in close proximity to Uintah County's Dinosaurland; an area rich with unique fossils from the Jurassic period.

Atop Vernal's list of attractions is Dinosaur National Monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers visitors the chance to explore dinosaur bones and fossils on their own self-guided tour. There are many trails available here, some that require more strenuous hiking than others, but all provide stunning views of ancient landscapes with evidence of dinosaurs everywhere you look!

For those looking for an activity that doesn't involve trekking through the wilderness, Vernal also has two museums dedicated to dinosaurs: The Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum and The Western Heritage Museum & Cowboy Hall Of Fame. These two educational facilities provide interactive exhibits and displays about prehistoric life in this region as well as artifacts from its frontier days.

Finally, no trip to Vernal would be complete without visiting Red Fleet State Park where you can find gorgeous views from atop its 200-foot sandstone cliffs overlooking Red Fleet Reservoir. Here visitors can spot native wildlife such as bighorn sheep while enjoying boating activities like fishing or simply taking a peaceful stroll around the lake shoreline.
