Visit Navoiy Region

Navoiy Region is located in the northwest of Uzbekistan, near the border with Kazakhstan. It is a large area with an incredible variety of landscapes, including desert plains and mountains. The region has many tourist attractions to offer, such as the fortress town of Kattakurgan and the magnificent Dashti-Jum Desert Lake.

Kattakurgan was once a major Silk Road city and guarded by formidable fortifications. It is now known for its historical monuments, such as the 16th century Tower of Seven Mullahs and a number of ancient mosques and mausoleums which date back hundreds of years. The Dashti-Jum Lake is another great location to visit - it's made up of two large salt lakes that are surrounded by sand dunes and mountains, making it one of the most visually stunning places in Navoiy Region.

Navoiy Region also has an interesting history; it was home to some notable poets during medieval times such as Zahiriddin Bobur who wrote about natural wonders such as Khoresm (Karakalpakstan) while living here in exile from Samarkand. Today there are memorials dedicated to him throughout Navoi region commemorating his works and life story.
