The Cupola di San Pietro, or St. Peter’s Dome, is a remarkable architectural marvel located in the heart of Vatican City. Designed primarily by Michelangelo, and later completed by Giacomo della Porta, this iconic structure is an integral part of St. Peter’s Basilica, the world’s largest church. The dome is a staggering 136.57 meters high, offering breathtaking views of Vatican City and Rome.

Visitors to the Cupola di San Pietro can ascend to the top of the dome either by elevator or by climbing a winding staircase of over 500 steps. The journey offers views of the stunning mosaics that adorn the interior of the dome. Once at the top, visitors can enjoy panoramic vistas of the city. Another must-see is the Basilica’s interior below, with its grandiose nave, decorated with intricate designs and religious iconography.
