Visit Federal Dependencies of Venezuela
The Federal Dependencies of Venezuela are a group of Caribbean islands and islets located off the north coast of the South American country. Most notably, they include Los Roques Archipelago National Park, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Venezuela due to its stunning white sand beaches, coral reefs and mangrove forests. Other dependencies include La Tortuga Island, Aves Island and La Orchila Island.
When visiting the Federal Dependencies of Venezuela, travelers should be sure to visit Francisco Fajardo Fort on La Tortuga Island. This fort was built by the Spanish in 1783 with cannons still standing today as a reminder of its rich history.
