Visit Federal Dependencies of Venezuela

The Federal Dependencies of Venezuela are a group of Caribbean islands and islets located off the north coast of the South American country. Most notably, they include Los Roques Archipelago National Park, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Venezuela due to its stunning white sand beaches, coral reefs and mangrove forests. Other dependencies include La Tortuga Island, Aves Island and La Orchila Island.

When visiting the Federal Dependencies of Venezuela, travelers should be sure to visit Francisco Fajardo Fort on La Tortuga Island. This fort was built by the Spanish in 1783 with cannons still standing today as a reminder of its rich history. Another must-see attraction is Los Roques Archipelago National Park as it offers some fantastic opportunities for snorkeling and swimming among its crystal clear waters - making it a great spot for beach lovers!

Interestingly enough, at one point in time during 1873-1874, Federal Dependencies served as an independent state known as Republica de los Gran Roque before being reincorporated into Venezuela shortly after.
