Visit Táchira

Tachira is a state located in the southwestern region of Venezuela. It borders both Colombia and Brazil and it's known for its lush landscapes, rich culture, and friendly people. The capital is San Cristobal, which is home to many historical sites like the Colonial Cathedral of San Cristobal de La Habana, built in 1781.

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Tachira is La Culata National Park. This park hosts vast forests with some endemic species such as Guatiquia monkeys and spectacled bears. Birdwatchers will also have a great time here as more than 150 species have been recorded at this location.

The state has an interesting history that dates back to 1576 when it was part of New Granada (present-day Colombia). This area declared independence from Spanish rule on June 24th 1821 and later joined with other regions to form Venezuela in 1830. Today Tachira stands proud as one of the 23 states making up this country.
