Visit Zulia
Zulia is a Venezuelan region located in the northwest of the country, and has a population of more than 6 million inhabitants. It borders Colombia to the west, Lake Maracaibo to the north and Tachira and Barinas to the east. Zulia is known for its beautiful landscapes, diverse fauna, and incredible cultural heritage.
One of its most popular tourist attractions is Parque Nacional "Los Aleros", where visitors can hike through a lush green forest full of endemic species such as jaguars, coatis, tapirs and anteaters. A second place of great interest for tourists visiting Zulia is Maracaibo Bay - recognized as one of Venezuela's largest cities - which offers access to both tropical beaches and stunning views during boat trips around this majestic lagoon.
Historically speaking, it was in 1529 when conquistador Lope de Aguirre founded La Villa de San Carlos del Zulia on Lake Maracaibo's shores; nowadays considered one of Latin America's oldest cities still inhabited by humans today.
