Visit Bắc Kạn

Bac Kan is a province located in the North-eastern region of Vietnam. It is surrounded by Cao Bang to the east, Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang to the west, and Ha Giang to the north. It is one of the least developed provinces in the country but its natural beauty makes it well worth a visit.

The Tam Dao National Park is an ideal location for nature lovers looking for some peace and quiet away from urban life. The region features mountains, caves and waterfalls that are great for hiking or camping overnight under a blanket of stars. The nearby Cuc Phuong National Park also offers beautiful scenery as well as wildlife watching opportunities.

Historically, Bac Kan was originally populated by ethnic minorities including Dao and Mong people until Vietnamese settlers arrived in the 16th century during their southward expansion from China. To this day, traces of their culture remain including traditional dance forms such as Quan Ho folk songs which were inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009.
