Visit Hà Nam

The central province of Ha Nam in Vietnam is renowned for its peaceful environment, beautiful riverside scenery and rich heritage. Located east of Hanoi, the provincial capital Phu Ly is a bustling city with history-filled streets and attractions.

Popular tourist sites in the area include the ancient Hoa Lu Temple Complex, built in 980 AD by King Dinh Tien Hoang and dedicated to the first two Vietnamese emperors, as well as Nha Tho Phat Diem Cathedral; a remarkably ornate Catholic Church known as 'the Vatican of Vietnam'. A boat trip down Cau River will also take you to Bich Dong Pagoda - an 18th century pagoda with three levels featuring unique architecture that blends Chinese and Vietnamese styles - before ending at Tam Coc Cave - where you can enjoy stunning karst formations surrounded by rice paddies.

Ha Nam's historical significance dates back to centuries ago when it was part of Van Lang Kingdom under the rule of King Linh Lang who governed from 968 BC - 258 BC. Today this proud province continues to preserve its cultural legacy through traditional festivals such as Tam Quan Festival which celebrates local culture through performances, ceremonies and folk games that are enjoyed by all ages alike.
