Visit Bulawayo Province


Bulawayo Province is the second largest province in Zimbabwe. It's located in the western part of the country, close to the border with Botswana and South Africa. The name "Bulawayo" means "The Place of Slaughter," which refers to a famous battle between two Ndebele tribes that occurred here centuries ago.

This region is known for its spectacular scenery, including rugged mountains, grassy savannas and beautiful rivers and waterfalls, offering great opportunities for outdoor recreation and sightseeing. Popular destinations in this area include Matobo National Park - home to numerous species of wildlife including rhinos - and Khami Ruins National Monument, a World Heritage Site featuring ruins from an ancient city dating back over 500 years.

Another must-see destination in Bulawayo Province is Khami Dam Nature Reserve near Bulawayo city itself. This nature reserve offers great bird watching opportunities as well as scenic boat rides across its tranquil lake. Finally don't forget about interesting historical sites like Cecil Rhodes' tomb at Matopos Hill or the famous Mzilikazi monument at Entumbane Hill which marks one of King Mzilikazi's last battles against British colonialists in 1893-94
