Visit Matabeleland South Province

Matabeleland South Province is a geographical region in the southwestern part of Zimbabwe. It has a population of over 1 million people, largely consisting of the Ndebele ethnic group. The province shares its borders with Midlands and Masvingo Provinces, as well as Botswana and South Africa.

Those looking for a unique experience can visit Matobo National Park, an area of fascinating granite outcrops and many archaeological sites related to early San inhabitants. Other tourist attractions include Khami Ruins National Monument, situated along the banks of Boteti River and containing ruins dating back to the fifteenth century.

A unique historical fact associated with Matabeleland South is its connection to Cecil Rhodes' 1894 invasion into Bulawayo city during Anglo-Ndebele War I. This event marked the beginning of what would be known as Rhodesia or Zimbabwe's colonial period when it was ruled by white settlers from Britain until 1980.
