The Midlands Province of Zimbabwe is located in the center of the country and is home to some of its most vibrant cities and towns. It is known for its rich minerals, agriculture, forestry, tourism, and other industries. The province includes four districts: Gweru Urban , Gweru Rural , Kwekwe (Que Que) and Shurugwi (Selukwe).
The region boasts a number of tourist attractions such as Great Zimbabwe Ruins, an ancient city built by the Shona people which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Khami Ruins National Monument which features several 16th century stone structures; Victoria Falls National Park where visitors can take part in various activities from white water rafting to taking a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.
Midlands Province also has an interesting history being home to King Mzilikazi who founded one of Africa's largest kingdoms - Matabeleland - prior to Ndebele invasions around 1840. Colonialism later led to significant disruption in traditional ways of life with it finally achieving independence from Britain in 1980.
