Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina, as well as one of the most populous cities in South America. It's known for its vibrant culture, diverse architecture, nightlife and countless attractions. Tourist attractions in Buenos Aires include Plaza de Mayo, a historical square surrounded by some of the city's most important buildings such as Casa Rosada (the presidential palace) and Catedral Metropolitana (the main cathedral). Another popular attraction is San Telmo Market, an open-air market filled with antiques and vintage goods. For a more modern experience, visitors can explore Puerto Madero - a stunning waterfront neighborhood with upscale restaurants, luxury shopping options and stunning views of the Rio de La Plata river.

Buenos Aires also has an interesting history steeped in Spanish colonial rule from 1580 to 1810 when it declared independence from Spain. One interesting fact is that Buenos Aires was originally founded twice; first in 1536 by Sebastian Cabot but later abandoned due to harsh conditions leaving it open for future settlement. It was then successfully reestablished on May 9th 1580 under Juan de Garay's leadership.
