Ottawa is the capital city of Canada and is located on the south bank of the Ottawa River. It is a vibrant city with many cultural attractions, scenic views and historic sites that make it an interesting place to explore. Main attractions include Parliament Hill, where visitors can view various government buildings and catch a glimpse of ceremonial events such as Changing of the Guard; the Rideau Canal which runs through downtown and is used for recreational activities like skating; and Byward Market which has over 200 vendors offering everything from local produce to handmade arts & crafts. Visitors can also explore museums such as National Gallery or Canadian War Museum or take part in festivals celebrating music, theatre, dance and food each year.
