Mount Pahia, located in the picturesque city of Bora Bora in French Polynesia, is a stunning natural landmark that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Towering at an impressive height of 661 meters, this dormant volcano is the second highest point on the island. The lush greenery that blankets the mountain, coupled with the azure waters of the Pacific Ocean in the backdrop, creates a truly mesmerizing sight.

Visitors to Mount Pahia can indulge in a challenging yet rewarding hike to the top. The trail winds through a dense tropical forest, offering glimpses of exotic flora and fauna. Once at the summit, hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the island and the surrounding lagoon. A visit to Mount Pahia also offers the opportunity to explore the ancient marae (sacred sites) scattered around the base of the mountain, providing a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Bora Bora.

  1. Plan ahead and book your accommodation in advance as the hotels near Mount Pahia can fill up quickly during peak season.
  2. Wear lightweight clothing, especially when hiking as it can be quite hot and humid near the mountain.
  3. Pack sunscreen, hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from sunburns while exploring Mount Pahia’s tropical landscape.
  4. Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated during any activities you may do on or around the mountain, such as hiking or boating trips nearby beaches like Matira Beach or Terevau Beach for a day of swimming in crystal clear waters of its lagoon .
  5. Respect local customs by dressing appropriately near religious sites like the ancient Marae Temanuaea Temple located on Mt Pahia’s slopes and ask permission before taking pictures out of respect for people living in Bora Bora villages
