The Western Region of Ghana is a beautiful province situated between the Volta and Tano rivers, nestled between the Central and Volta Regions. An interesting historical fact about this region is that it is where Vlissingen Castle was established back in 1642 by Dutch traders from Zeeland. The castle served as an important trading post until 1872 when it was eventually destroyed by fire.
