Visit Grand’Anse

The Grand'Anse region of Haiti is a beautiful area located in the south-west corner of the country. It is known for its pristine beaches, lush green hills, and colorful towns. This region boasts some of the country's most popular tourist sites including Bassin Bleu, a natural pool carved out by the waterfall that cascades into it, and La Citadelle Laferriere, an impressive fortress built to defend against French attack in 1820.

One of Grand'Anse's most interesting historical facts has to do with Jean Jacques Dessalines, one of Haiti's founding fathers. He declared independence from France on December 5th 1803 near Jacmel - an event which was celebrated throughout the region by thousands of Haitians and their descendants every year.

Grand'Anse offers visitors a variety of cultural experiences as well as plenty of outdoor activities such as fishing trips to Ile-a-Vache or boat trips along La Visite river.
