Discover Matsuyama
The Dogo Onsen Honkan is one of the oldest hot spring baths in Japan, and visitors can enjoy centuries-old traditions while taking part in this experience. The bathhouse was actually featured as an inspiration for Spirited Away's iconic bathhouse. Other points of interest include Matsuyama Castle, which dates back to 1603, and Ninomaru Garden which features 500 year old pine trees and is said to be one of the most romantic spots in all of Japan.
For nature lovers, Mt Ishizuchi should not be missed - it's one of the tallest mountains in Western Japan at 1,982 meters high and offers stunning views from its peak as well as five trails for hiking and camping adventure seekers alike. Those looking to immerse themselves further into Japanese culture can take a stroll through Dogo Shopping Arcade or visit Takahama Beach for gorgeous ocean views and opportunities for relaxation.
