Visit Ibaraki Prefecture

Ibaraki Prefecture is located in the Kanto region of Japan, just northeast of Tokyo. It is famous for its ocean views, rice fields, and historic shrines. The prefecture's capital is Mito City, home to the famous Kairakuen Garden and Mito Castle ruins. Visitors can explore other nearby cities like Kashima and Hitachi City to enjoy hot springs, temples, and beaches. There are several popular tourist spots throughout Ibaraki such as Lake Kasumigaura--a picturesque lake with a popular beach area--and Hitachi Seaside Park--known for its colorful flower fields in season.

Ibaraki has a rich history that dates back centuries; one particularly interesting fact about Ibaraki Prefecture is that it was once home to a castle built by Tokugawa Ieyasu's grandfather in 1590. Today, many of the castle's structures have been reconstructed or restored as museums which attract tourists from around the world each year.
