Visit Canton of Capellen

The Canton of Capellen is located in the north-west corner of Luxembourg, close to the borders with Belgium and France. It has a population of around 43,200 people and covers an area of 57 km2.

Capellen is known as a chic area in Luxembourg, with picturesque villages such as Olm and Contern offering plenty of charm. There are also plenty of nature reserves in the area, including Bambesch Nature Park which is perfect for walking or cycling.

The region is particularly known for its historical sites - one example being Mersch Castle which was built by Countess Ermesinde on top of a hill overlooking the town in 1238. The castle has had many uses over the centuries, but now offers visitors guided tours with lots to learn about its fascinating history.
