Visit Balaka District

The Balaka District is a region in the southern portion of Malawi. It is known for its abundance of lush greenery and wildlife, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers. One of the most popular attractions in the area is Thupi Mountain, a 4,543-foot peak that offers stunning views from its summit. Another great place to visit is Kapichira Falls, a series of large waterfalls with overlooks along the way. The numerous trails winding through this area make it perfect for hiking and exploring.

Balaka District has an interesting history as well; it was once part of Ngoniland before being taken over by British forces during the Second Boer War and annexed to British Central Africa Protectorate. From 1907 to 1960 it served as headquarters to three Chieftainships until Malawi gained independence from Britain in 1964 and transformed into one unified district.
