Visit Rîșcani District

The Riscani District is a region of Moldova located in the north-central part of the country. Due to its proximity to the capital, Chisinau, it has become a popular destination for tourists. It consists mostly of rolling hills and ancient forests and is home to several historic monuments. The district's main town, Chirilovca, is known for its picturesque streets and vibrant culture.

Two attractions that should not be missed are Riscanesti Monastery in Chirilovca and the Old Tower in Butuceni. The former dates from 1595 and contains frescoes depicting biblical scenes while the latter was built during medieval times as an outpost during Tartar invasions from Ukraine into Moldova.

An interesting historical fact about Riscani District is that it was founded by Stephen III of Moldavia who ruled between 1364-1367; his castle can still be found at Criuleni today!
