Visit Transnistria autonomous territorial unit

Transnistria is an autonomous territorial unit of the country Moldova located on the east bank of the Dniester River along its border with Ukraine. It is often referred to informally as Transdniestria or Trans-Dniestr. The area has a population of about 500,000 people and its capital city is Tiraspol.

Transnistria has a rich history and culture that makes it a popular tourist destination in Moldova. One of the most interesting places to visit is Bender Fortress, which was built in 1434 and played an important role during World War II as part of the Soviet defense line against Nazi Germany's advance towards Moscow. Another great place to visit is Vadul lui Voda Monastery, which dates back to 1701 and served as a retreat for monks from nearby monasteries during times of war.

An interesting historical fact about Transnistria is that it declared independence from Moldova in 1990 due to political unrest, but was not recognized by any other countries except for Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Nagorno-Karabakh. Despite this lack of international recognition, Transnistria continues to function independently today with its own government and institutions such as law enforcement agencies and courts.
