Visit Central region


The Central region of Montenegro is a stunning area of natural beauty and fascinating history. Located in the country's heart, this region is home to some of the most picturesque landscapes in all of Montenegro, with rolling hills, verdant valleys and idyllic villages.

The town of Cetinje is a must-see destination for visitors, being an important cultural and educational center since its founding as the royal capital in 15th century. Its highlights include The National Museum, filled with priceless works from Montenegrin artists; Biljarda Palace; and Cetinje Monastery, one of the oldest religious buildings in all of Montenegro.

Close by lies Lovcen National Park - one particularly noteworthy site due to its unique combination of nature and history. At its peak stands Mausoleum Petar II Petrovic-Njegos - an impressive tribute to Montenegro's beloved first prince-bishop - while further down you can also find Njegos's final resting place at Ivanova Korita monastery.
