Naypyidaw Union Territory is the official capital of Myanmar and it's the largest city in terms of area in the country. The city, established in 2005, was built as a purpose-built administrative capital for the government.

Naypyidaw has many interesting attractions to explore including Uppatasanti Pagoda, a golden stupa dedicated to world peace, and Naypyidaw Zoo which houses a wide variety of animals including tigers and white elephants. Other sights include: National Herbal Park with its collection of medicinal plants from around Myanmar; Shwezigon Pagoda - an ancient Buddhist monument; and Jardin Botanique which features diverse floral species from all over Southeast Asia.

For those looking for a history lesson about Naypyidaw Union Territory there are many interesting things to learn about this young city. One such thing is that it was built by order of then-military leader General Than Shwe in 2005 who wanted a modern capital that could better serve his needs as head of state than Yangon (then Rangoon). As such, this new purpose-built capital was constructed from scratch at an estimated cost of $4 billion dollars!
