Bucharest, the capital of Romania, is a vibrant and exciting city that offers something for everyone. Located in the southeastern part of the country near the Danube river and close to various other historic sites, Bucharest is an ideal destination for tourists looking to explore Eastern Europe. The city has a rich cultural history with art galleries, museums and traditional architecture throughout.

One of Bucharest's most popular attractions is Palace of Parliament, one of Europe's largest buildings which was built under Ceausescu during communist rule. For those looking to enjoy some nightlife, Old Town (Lipscani) offers many bars and clubs as well as lively outdoor markets. During warmer months outdoor cafes line cobblestone streets while summer festivals take place in parks around the city.

For those interested in Romanian culture visit Village Museum - an open-air museum with over 300 authentic buildings from around Romania collected and reassembled on site or try some local food at Caru cu Bere - a historical beer house established in 1879 by Austrian architect Franz Strauss which serves traditional Romanian dishes such as sarmale (stuffed cabbage leaves).
