Alorton, Illinois is a small town in St. Clair County located close to the Mississippi River in the United States. It has a population of just over 2,000 people yet despite its size it has its own unique charm and character. It was founded in 1890 by John Alorton and named after himself. The city is full of history with many old buildings that are still standing today like John's old home which is now a museum dedicated to him.

Visitors coming to Alorton can enjoy several attractions such as the Jesse Jackson Museum which celebrates the life and work of civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr., or taste some delicious Southern-style cooking at country restaurants around town. They can also visit any number of historical attractions such as Johnson Cemetery where many Civil War soldiers are buried, or take a stroll through one of Alorton's parks like his Evergreen Park which has playgrounds, walking trails and basketball courts for visitors to enjoy year-round. Lastly, those looking for an adrenaline rush can go water skiing on Lake Pierre nearby!
