Discover Enterprise

Enterprise is a city located in the southeastern United States, in Coffee County, Alabama. With an estimated population of over 27,000 people, Enterprise is the largest city in Coffee County and the seventh-largest city in Alabama. The city was named after John Henry Carmichael's sawmill enterprise.

The city has a number of attractions and activities to offer visitors including the Boll Weevil Monument, Downtown Square Fountain Park and camping and fishing trips at College Lake. The Boll Weevil Monument stands as a reminder of how this small insect once destroyed much of Enterprise's cotton crop but also forced farmers to diversify their crops and become more resilient to economic change. Those wanting to enjoy some outdoor recreation can explore nearby nature trails or take part in water sports such as canoeing or kayaking on College Lake.

For those wanting to experience history first hand they can visit two nearby Civil War sites - Fort Dale Campsite where General Robert E Lee spent his last night with Confederate Troops before surrendering at Appomattox Court House; and Solomon Lodge No 8 which served as both a Masonic lodge for Masons from throughout Central Alabama during the Civil War era but also served as an escape route for slaves seeking freedom during that time period.
